Pictures! Yay!

These are Elisabeth and Ryan. Elisabeth is in my Philosophy class. We eat with them a lot.

This is a better picture of Elisabeth.

This is a better (sort of) picture of Ryan. Yes, he IS trying to look insane.

This is the statue of Mary and Jesus that is outside the cafeteria. I think it turned out really pretty.

This is the cafeteria as seen from the end of the Stations of the Cross. Doesn't it look nice?

This is the view from my window in Sociology. It's from the top floor of Stowe hall. I call it my window because I sit right next to it. It's a nice window to be at because the view is pretty and it's sunny outside the window. Sometimes my necklace catches the light and shoots it all over the back wall.

This is the view from the closest window in Theology and Government. It's not a great view so I don't sit next to it.

This is Professor Williams, my Theology and Government teacher. Yes, those are two separate classes. Just because it's Catholic school doesn't mean we learn how to form a theocracy.

This is Professor Cooke. He's my Philosophy teacher. He's not actually teaching here, he's talking to someone. But it sure looks like he's teaching.

This is the view from one of his windows. I don't sit near it, but that's okay because he does a lot of lecturing while standing next to it so I can still look out of it. A bird flew into it today, right into the screened part, too. Last time a bird hit a window it was the window that always has the shades drawn. The birds here are dumb.

Taken from a chat log...

So, I came up with the worst analogy ever today. The rest is taken from an IRC chat log (no grandma, you don't really need to know what it means). I'm Skittles. JayRandom is somebody who plays this online game on the same server as me. That's all you need to know.

BEGIN QUOTATION BLOCK
[22:31] <Skittles> I compared Friends to the Old Testament.
[22:31] <Skittles> Sitting there in Theology, talking about King David and his line.
[22:31] <Skittles> And I ask, "How long were the Israelites a united people in the promised land?"
[22:32] <JayRandom> Ahh, like the time Ross had a date, but he was struck with a plague of boils beforehand?
[22:32] <Skittles> The answer is 300-600 years, depending on whether you count the time they didn't have a king but were united as a people.
[22:32] <Skittles> And it comes to my mind that they've spent thousands of years fighting over this land they lived in for almost no time at all.
[22:33] <Skittles> And the first thing that I think of after that is, "Huh, kind of like how Ross and Rachel only dated for like, two months in the first three seasons of Friends but the entire ten year run everyone wanted them back together..."
[22:33] <Skittles> Although I DID manage to stop myself from saying that one out loud, which is progress.

QUOTATION BLOCK ENDS

I'm gonna burn in hell...

So um, I have other relatives...

I really was trying to get to bed early. I was closing off all my chat programs and trying to settle in for the night and I checked my Facebook. For those who don't know (which I'm guessing is all of you) Facebook is a program set up for college students (you have to use campus email to even be able to view an account) and then you can search for other people and everything. It's pretty cool. Anyway, I checked my facebook. From what I can figure, my grandpa on my father's side had a brother nobody ever told me about (he died when my father was still a kid, remember). This brother's family seems to have relocated to Utah of all places. They have a daughter who is two months older than me. Her name is Harvest and she goes to St. Mary's College in California. I have family I never knew about. I can't sleep AT ALL right now, so I'm cleaning while exchanging messages with her.

This is like some freaky twilight zone for me. It's weird that we both ended up in Catholic schools on literal opposite ends of the country. And we both list The Five People You Meet In Heaven as a favorite book.

Engagements and weddings

Okay, so as some of you probably already know Brian and I are engaged now. I don't know who knows what anymore, so there ya go. This is the official anouncement.

So, to answer the upcoming questions:
We know we're getting married after we graduate. Probably sometime in the summer but we're not exactly sure.
I don't know who all the attendants are going to be. Brian's best man is going to be his best friend Chris and my man of honor is my best friend Daniel (yup, a boy).
In case you didn't get it from the last thing, it'll probably be a non-traditional wedding since Brian isn't religious and I don't belong to any particular faith.
I'm going to try and keep it pretty low key and inexpensive since I don't want to put a huge financial strain on everyone.
I'm also going to try and avoid being a Bridezilla as much as humanly possible although I can't make any promises.
I don't have a location in mind, I don't have a date in mind, I don't have a dress in mind, and I don't have any colors in mind. I think I might like it outside, though.

Any other questions feel free to ask me! (Unless you're asking to be in the wedding! Bad! That's very tacky! Shame on you!)

Behavior modification

So I'm in psych today and the teacher asks if we have any bad habits. Well, I've got a bunch. So I say I chew my nails. She liked that example and gave us an example of a way we could train ourselves to break a habit with the example of biting nails. So until Thursday next week I'm not allowed to bite the nails on my left hand. Each day I don't bite those nails, I'm going to eat a cookie. If I do bite the nails, I can't drink soda the next day. After Thursday, I'm only allowed to bite my thumbs. Go a week like that and then no nails period. After a month of that, I get a pretty manicure. And no chewing on the skin around my nails, either. So wish me luck on breaking my habit! If I can do this, then I can train myself to do other nifty things like not procrastinate and diet.

Stress bubble

Brian just ruined my entire life. Seriously. Just moments before my psych test, he did something (I don't remember what) which got me even more ramped up than I already was. I ended up cuddling my knees to my chest and rocking back and forth for a few minutes. That's right, he popped my stress bubble. I now find it completely impossible to be motivated to do anything. Which is the absolute worst time that could happen. I have an essay to write and a test to study for. Both are due tomorrow. If he'd just left me alone I'd have been stressed until tomorrow at 3 when my last class ends and I'd be completely done. And I would have finished everything!

Leave my bubble alone!

This is relaxing

Okay, it's time for our meditation moment. Ready to relax?

Okay, now, repeat after me...

Ready?

Go.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*deep breath*
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You also might find it helpful to bang your head repeatedly against something hard. A desk works well, as does the heads of unbelievers.

Now, if you excuse me, I have to finish my fifth hour of community service in two days and study for a test. After that test, I have to write an essay and study for ANOTHER test.

Oh, and did I mention the power went out again last night? That's the second time in less than three months. They should really warn you about that at orientation.

Okay, so maybe not...

So NaNoWriMo is a wash. I got about 650 words into it and realized that there is no WAY November is a good time for me. Finals start in the beginning of December, so I'm taking tests and writing essays non-stop. I have a test tomorrow and a test AND an essay Friday. Then I have a research project AND a research paper I need to start on. My community service hours are due by the 21st so I was scrambling to get those. I'm up to nine now and I need ten. I'm planting crosses with the names of fallen soldiers today at five (1-2 hours), tomorrow at ten I'm counting up Yoplait lids since we're doing Lids for Life (1 hour), I still have another knitting club meeting before the 21st (1 hour), and I'm almost done with a stocking for the club (1-2 hours). So all told, that'll take me up to 13-15 hours worth of service. Those extra hours roll over to next semester so I'll only have to do, say, seven hours. My goal is to have enough hours to not have to do community service my senior year.

Apparently, our Cultural Credit events also roll over. I probably won't accumulate those because they're so very dull. Five a semester is enough. I may end up with extras because Brian has a chorus concert which counts and I might go to a movie night which also counts. But my GOD it's dull.

Anyway, I need to finish knitting a stocking. Ta!
